Sweeping the Pennines

The night before Wavves’ first show of the Weezer Cruise, I ended up drinking a ton with Nathan from Wavves and eventually helped back to his room (Nathan had brilliantly written his room number on his arm before starting his drinking). I drunkenly scribbled him a note saying that ‘Willers’ had helped him back to his room and I hoped he was alive and stuff.

So at his show the next day, he constantly kept asking the crowd where the fuck Willers was because he wanted to thank him for helping him out the night before. I didn’t feel like basking in that random attention so I didn’t tell him I was in the crowd until the end of the show. When he saw me in the crowd, he jumped off the stage, found his way to me, and he said thanks again!

At the remaining two Wavves shows, people in the crowd kept shouting ‘Willers!” and Nathan would acknowledge it. And around the boat for the rest of the cruise people kept buying me drinks and shouting “Willers!’ at me. It was odd.
